This is one of the first things I noticed, that my Chinese friends just didn't get a chance to travel at all. But even more surprising is when you talk to like the cabbies or other more working-class people, and they usually haven't even left Beijing, it's like the cost of traveling is totally insurmountable for them. It's really unfortunate. As soon as I got to Singapore, I noticed a marked difference; everyone was jetsetting all over SE Asia and beyond. Oh, totally.
